I am passionate about social and environmental justice, youth, gender, and transitioning to a sustainable and just future for all. I am originally from Vancouver Island, Canada, and completed a bachelor’s in International Development and Globalization. Upon graduating I took part in the Aga Khan Foundation International Youth Fellowship, working as a Gender Officer in rural India, where I began writing a personal blog (which you can read here).  I then pursued an MSc. in Anthropology, Environment, and Development at University College London, returning to India to conduct independent field research on forest rights. In my spare time you can find me volunteer copy-editing, talking about alternative economics, riding my bike, and hiking.

I am interested in exploring the various relationships between humans and their environments - and how these relationships reflect and produce certain socio-economic systems. More specifically, I am interested in 'the commons' and how this socio-economic model can generate communities that respect and care for their environments. I explored these interests while studying an MSc in Anthropology, Environment, and Development at University College London, conducteding field research in France on the commons and human-environment relations. In my free time you'll find me cycling, running and struggling with my French.

Envisioning socio-economic equality and political liberty, I am working on the caste, religious and gender inequalities in India.  As a post-graduate M.A Mass Communication student at Pondicherry University, India, I'm specializing in social inclusive and exclusive policies. I am also concerned about cultural studies and I would like to further explore various indigenous cultures which are struggling for survival.

I am currently in my third year of an English Literature degree at Bristol University. My particular interest is in the literature and poetry of Thomas Hardy. His work speaks to us today on many levels. But perhaps most importantly, his reflections on the human-environment relationships in the English (Dorset) landscape reveal crucial lessons for our own society faced with climate and ecological collapse.
